Aspherical lens can increase the numerical aperture of a lens while minimizing system aberrations. Aspherical lens may also reduce the number of elements needed in a multi-element system.Convex Aspheric Lenses are used to reduce aberrations, aspherical lens is ideal for light collection, projection, illumination, detection, and condensing applications.

Silicon features a Knoop Hardness of 1150 and low density, making it tougher than germanium substrates and suitable for weight-sensitive applications, respectively. Silicon convex Aspheric Lenses feature the mechanical and thermal properties required to withstand many of the effects of harsh environments including fluctuations in temperature and pressure. Because silicon is a low density material, these Convex Aspherical Lenses are also ideal for weight-sensitive systems, such as those found in many defense applications.
